I follow Maria's blog and her recipes are wonderful. Being a newbie to using a slow cooker I decided to give this a try and was not disappointed. This book lays out everything you could need for low carb cooking: explanations of what exactly low-carb cooking consists of (the whys and hows), substitutions, pictures for every recipe, nutritional info (and nutritional info comparison) and the recipes are pretty easy. I've already made several recipes and they turned out great, my favorite so far is the low carb marinara sauce. I'll definitely puck up her other cookbooks.Product details

The Art of Healthy Eating Slow Cooker edition by Maria Emmerich Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
I have a picky family, especially my husband who likes to keep it "real" by telling me what he thinks of the meals I make. I have made about 7 meals with this cookbook and each one was well received by ALL the family! This is no easy feat with girls who usually like simple and a husband who likes more flavorful and gourmet. I love this book and it's simple fast recipes! I get the meal made in the am and I can go through my day without the worries of having to run home to make dinner. Thank you!!!
Perfect for a busy life but not wanting to sacrifice your health. The recipes have all been absolutely delicious and ones the woke family enjoys. My husband and I work 90+ hours a week so cooking can sometimes get put at the bottom of tyre totem pole. But with this book, we have healthy, QUI n options to choose from. The biggest plus of this book is that you don't stand in front of the stove for 20-30 minutes before you put in the crock pot. I hate those recipes- what's the point of a slow cooker if you still have to invest a half hour into the prep? Might as well just cook a meal. But not with this book.
I really like Maria's recipes. My whole family enjoys them. Her recipes helped my father in law's a1c go from 6.9 to 5.4 in three months. And he had no idea his food was "healthified"! I recommend her books to anyone trying to stay low carb, sugar free and grain free. She has a lot of unique recipes and good replacements for junk food. My only complaint is that a lot of the recipes are repeats from her other cookbooks, just modified to be baked in the slow cooker. I was hoping for more new recipes.
I've only tried the Chicken Adobo recipe from this book, but it was great. This is an excellent book. There's a great variety of recipes for healthy versions of Chinese, Italian, Thai, and American foods from appetizers to desserts. There's a color picture of each recipe and information about the different ingredients used and why they're a healthier choice. It also tells where you can purchase them.
Hardback binding is awesome. So far, every recipe I've tried has been awesome...especially the Italian Stuffed Peppers. That's my new go-to recipe for stuffed peppers. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Maria!! You have provided me with all the keto resources I could ever want or need. With this cookbook, there's no excuse to not have a keto meal on the table every night!!
This has been a heaven sent for a mom of a toddler and a preschooler!
I was not big into the crockpot before, but now it’s a no brainer. And the recipes are so yummy, even my toddler approves.
Thanks for helping out a mama with her hands full!

I own all of Maria's wonderful books and bought this one as soon as it became available. I wasn't quite sure what to expect of a hardcover, but it is a really nice book, easily lies flat for reference while cooking.
The book is beautifully laid out, carefully edited, has photos of every recipe, and has an easy to read nutrition chart for each recipe, including comparison of usual recipes for a dish to her "healthified" version.
She also tucks in numerous brief discussions on health and diet topics, including benefits of her ingredients vs. less healthy alternatives, as well as various health concerns such as Alzheimer's and gout. But none of this gets in the way of the huge number of recipes. Maria is a genius when it comes to providing alternatives to well-loved favorites. Those of us who want to restrict gluten and carbs but miss old favorites only need to find Maria's version. I made her tortillas yesterday (part of the recipe for fajitas in this book) and filled them with seasoned meat and her "healthified" refried "beans" -- actually made with eggplant (from another of her books) -- and had a burrito that was nearly indistinguishable from the starchy old favorite.
Maria knows her nutrition science, but also knows how to make delicious healthy recipes! I can't wait to try many more new recipes from this book.
